For the rest of us watching at home, there are a few things we should expect to learn during the convention’s many panels (several of which will be live streamed for online audiences). The most important panel to keep an eye on is Thursday’s Lucasfilm Studio Showcase, which will cover upcoming live-action Star Wars projects, including The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. Could this also be the panel where Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will outline the franchise’s plans on the big screen? We know Taika Waititi’s untitled film is up first (now that Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron has been pushed back), but what else does the studio have in the pipeline beyond that? Perhaps we’ll finally hear something official about the long-rumored Star Wars movie that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is developing with Loki creator Michael Waldron! Fans should expect plenty of updates from all the tie-in material, too. Lucasfilm Publishing, Marvel Comics, and Del Rey Books will all be hosting their own panels. There’s even a panel dedicated to The High Republic line of books and comics, as they prepare to jump into Phase 2 of that storytelling initiative. Animation will have a big presence at SWCA, too. Expect to hear some news about The Bad Batch season 2 (we’re hoping for a release date), as well as to get a first look at Tales of the Jedi, a new anthology of animated shorts that sounds very exciting. There will also be a Visions panel as well as a special screening of the final arc of The Clone Wars. Fans at that event will get to watch a big-screen version of “The Siege of Mandalore” with series co-creator Dave Filoni.
